Opening and Navigating Dashboards
Dashboards display business intelligence through visuals such as charts, tables, and KPI-style summaries. Some also include multiple sheets and interactive controls.
Common dashboard components
- Visuals such as bar charts, line charts, tables, and KPI tiles.
- Sheets that organize dashboard content into tabs or pages.
- Controls that let you filter data by selected values.
- Q&A when natural language questions have been enabled.
-
Open Dashboards or Shared Folders.
- Select the dashboard name.
- Review available sheets, visuals, and controls.
- Use tabs to move between sheets, if the dashboard contains more than one.
Filtering Dashboard Data Using Parameters
Dashboard controls allow you to filter the data shown in visuals. These controls are usually connected to parameters or filters configured by the dashboard author.
- Open a dashboard.
-
Expand the Controls area, if it is collapsed.
- Select values from the available controls, such as dropdowns, sliders, or text-based inputs.
- Review how the visuals update based on your selection.
- If the dashboard has multiple sheets, move between sheets to see whether the selections apply there as well.
Some controls update all sheets, while others may only affect one visual or one sheet. Behavior depends on how the author configured the dashboard.
Exporting Dashboard Data
You can export an entire dashboard or export data from individual visuals, depending on the dashboard configuration and your permissions.
Export an entire dashboard as PDF
PDF exports only print data that's visible. So, if you need to scroll right to view the entire visual, you will not see the entire visual printed.
- Open the dashboard.
- Apply any filters you want included in the export.
-
Select Export or Generate PDF.
- Download and review the PDF.
Export a single visual as CSV
- Locate the visual.
-
Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮).
- Select Export to CSV.
- Open the file to verify the output.
Bookmarking and Saving Dashboard Views
Bookmarks save a filtered dashboard view so you can return to the same settings later.
- Open a dashboard.
- Apply the filters or controls you want to preserve.
-
Click Bookmark.
-
Select Add.
- Enter a bookmark name.
- Click Save.
Optional: Set a bookmark as your default view
- Open the Bookmark menu.
- Locate the saved bookmark.
- Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮).
-
Select Set as default.
Favorites and bookmarks are not the same. A favorite provides quick access to a dashboard, while a bookmark saves the selected filter state.
Using Dashboard Q&A
Dashboard Q&A lets you ask natural language questions about the data in a dashboard. The system uses the dashboard’s linked topic to interpret what your question means.
See this video for more information on Data Q&A.
Before you begin
The dashboard must be published with Q&A enabled and shared with you.
- Open a dashboard with Q&A enabled.
-
Click Q&A on the toolbar.
-
Optional: Change the topic for the question.
- Enter a question in plain language, such as
What was approved matter spend by law firm in 2025? - Click Ask.
- Review the result.
- Ask follow-up questions or choose from suggested questions, if available.
Questions work best when you include a metric, a category, and a timeframe.
