This dashboard provides matter lifetime statistics compared against CounselLink benchmark data. Matters included in the sample are closed or dormant matters with billed time in the last three years. Dormant matters are those with no invoices in the last 90 days.
You must have the Dashboard Administrator role to view dashboards for your organization.
Controls
Selecting the Controls dropdown reveals filters. Changing filters updates the graphs below.
Viewing the Graphs
The dashboard displays five graphs:
Matter Hourly Rate: The average detailed hourly rate per matter compared with benchmark data at the 25th, median, and 75th percentiles.
Matter Hours: The billed hours to close individual matters compared with benchmark data at the 25th, median, and 75th percentiles.
Matter Spend: The amount spent to close an individual matter compared with benchmark data at the 25th, median, and 75th percentiles.
Matter Staffing (Partner Percentage): The percentage of closed-matter spend billed by partners compared with benchmark data at the 25th, median, and 75th percentiles.
Matter Duration (Months): The number of months to close an individual matter compared with benchmark data at the 25th, median, and 75th percentiles.
Hover over a chart area to view benchmark details. You can also expand/collapse, maximize, or export a chart to a CSV file.
Supporting Analysis
Supporting matter statistics appear below the graphs, including the following grids:
Matter Hours Analysis: Compares billed hours to close matters against benchmark data at the 10th, 25th, median, 75th, and 90th percentiles, and shows the client average for comparison.
Matter Spend Analysis: Compares spend to close matters against benchmark data at the 10th, 25th, median, 75th, and 90th percentiles, and shows the client average for comparison.
Matter Staffing (Partner Percentage) Analysis: Compares partner-billed spend percentage on closed matters against benchmark data at the 10th, 25th, median, 75th, and 90th percentiles, including the total average partner staffing percentage.
Matter Duration (Months) Analysis: Compares time to close matters (in months) against benchmark data at the 10th, 25th, median, 75th, and 90th percentiles.
Customer Attributes
The Customer Attributes tab includes Customer Attributes and Matter Attributes sections.
- Customer Attributes lists: Customer Name, Customer Industry, Customer Sub-Industry, Customer Revenue.
- Matter Attributes lists: Matter Category, Matter Sub-Category, Matter Type, Customer Office Name, Number of Matters.
To expand or collapse a section in Matter Attributes, click the associated plus (+) control. To export, click the ellipsis (three-dot) menu in the upper-right corner and export to CSV.
