This section contains definitions of the objects available for CounselLink reporting.
There are two main kinds: attributes and metrics.
You can create different reports by combining attributes and metrics with report filters, prompts, and formatting styles. Once created, you can run a report immediately or save it and run at a later date. Report data can be displayed online, printed, or exported in different formats (such as .PDF, MS Excel, HTML, or .txt).
Icons and Labels
The following icons are used in to denote the different object types:

Attribute (
) - Object used to store textual information.
Example: Matter Title; Example data: “Smith vs. Jones”

Metric (
) - Object used to store and perform mathematical computation.
Example: Charge Rate; Example data: $450.00

Filter Prompt (
) - Object used to provide input prompts that will be used to filter information when a report is run.
Example: Charge Date Range; Example Input Value: Beginning Date: 01/01/2008
The following labels are used in CounselLink:
- LVL - Indicates a metric is aggregated at the highest level in the CounselLink object hierarchy (Level 1 from the Hierarchy diagram located at the end of this document).
- KEY - Indicates a special type of metric that will raise other metrics in the same folder up to the highest level in the object hierarchy. For example, the Matter Allocation (KEY) attribute raises the matter allocation metrics from Level 2 in the CounselLink object hierarchy to Level 1 (matter level) in the CounselLink object hierarchy.
