Configuring Tasks in the Outlook Add-in
The CounselLink Outlook add-in displays four homepage tiles by default, but you can configure up to eight. Clicking a tile opens LexisNexis® CounselLink® in a browser using the tile’s selected criteria.
The add-in provides four task-related tile options:
- Tasks Due Today
- Tasks Due Tomorrow
- Tasks Due in 7 Days
- Tasks Overdue
Adding a Task Tile to Your Add-in Homepage

Hover over a tile to reveal the gear icon in the upper-right corner.

Click the gear icon.

Scroll to the bottom of the list and select an option under Tasks.
The homepage tile updates and displays your selection.
Viewing Tasks in the Outlook Add-in
You can view tasks related to matters and intakes directly in the Outlook add-in. The add-in shows task details, including name, priority, status, assignee, due date, and estimated hours.

Click the Menu icon.
- Select Matters.
- Search for the matter or intake.

Click on the matter or intake name to reveal the Details task pane.

Click on the Tasks link at the top of the panel.
- Select one of the following views:
- All Tasks: Displays all the tasks associated with the matter or intake.
- Tasks Assigned to Me: Displays only tasks assigned to you.
- Click a task name to open the Task Details pane.
From this page, you can edit or change a task status.
Adding Tasks from the Outlook Add-in
You can add tasks directly to a matter or intake within the LexisNexis® CounselLink® Add-in for Outlook.

Add a task from the Matters panel by one of two ways:
- Hover yover the matter or intake.

Click the ellipses icon.
- Click Add Task. The Add Task pane displays.

- Click on a matter or intake ato open the Details pane.

Click +Add Task.

The Add Task panel displays.
- Hover yover the matter or intake.

Enter details as needed.
Fields marked with an asterisk (*) indicate required entry.
Field Description Task Name* Enter a name for the task.
Task Description Enter a description for the task. Task Type Select one of the following:
- Internal: The task will be assigned to a role, user, or group at your organization.
- Law Firm: The task will be assigned to a law firm user.
Assign To Assign the task by role, person, or group. If assigning to a specific user, start typing the name and select from the drop-down list. Due Date Enter a due date for the task. Reminder before Due Select when to send a reminder. Use the arrows to specify how many days before the due date to send the reminder. Priority Select Low, Normal, or High. -
Optional: Click Show Advanced Settings to configure:
Field Description Estimated Hours Enter the estimated hours it will take to complete the task.
Configure Dependencies Select This task is dependent on another task. Then select the task it depends on from the drop-down list. Optionally, specify how many days after the prior task is completed this task is due (for example, 5 days).
- Click Add Task to save task to the matter or intake.
Editing Tasks with the Add-in for Outlook
You can edit tasks directly within the CounselLink Outlook add-in.
Navigate to the Tasks pane for a matter or intake.
- Hover over the task to reveal the ellipses icon.

Click on the ellipses icon.
- Click Edit Task.
- Edit task details as necessary.
- Click Save Task.
Editing a Task from the Task Details Pane
- Open the Task Details page.

Click on the ellipses icon next to the task name.
- Click Edit Task.
- Edit task details as necessary.
- Click Save Task.
Changing the Status of a Task in the Outlook Add-in
You can change task status directly within the CounselLink Outlook add-in. Tasks display color-coded status indicators.

Pending (Task is dependent on another task to be completed first)
In Progress

Overdue (Due date set for task has passed)
Done
From the Tasks pane
Navigate to the Tasks pane for a matter or intake.
- Hover over the task to reveal the ellipses icon.

Click on the ellipses icon.

Click Change Status. The Update Task Status pane displays.
- Select a status.
- Click Update Status.
From the Task Details Pane
Open the Task Details pane.

Click on the ellipses icon next to the task name.

Click Change Status. The Update Task Status pane displays.
- Select a status.
- Click Update Status.
