About In-App Notifications
In-app notifications provide a consolidated drop down menu of instances where you are tagged in a comment or assigned a task. Click the Notifications icon on your top bar to reveal the drop down.
Notifications are enabled for individuals by default. If you are a User Administrator, you can also enable or disable the feature for users by mass action.
Using In-App Notifications
Once you have notifications enabled you will receive notifications upon being tagged in a comment or assigned a task.
- Click the Notifications button next to your user name to view your notifications. The red number on the bell icon indicates how many notifications are unread.
- The Notifications button will not appear on pages that use an older CounselLink user interface.
- Notifications shown in bold have not been clicked. Click the caret to expand/collapse the comment, or click the title to go directly to the comment location.
- You can delete or manage email notifications by hovering over the ellipses icon.
- Click Clear All Notifications to remove all items in the list. Unless deleted, your notification items will remain in the list for 7, 14, or 30 days, depending on your organization's configuration.
The notifications list is limited to 100 notifications.
Managing In-App Notifications

Navigate to your User Profile by clicking My Profile under your user name. Your User Profile page displays.
- Click the Edit icon in the upper right corner. The Edit User Profile page displays.

Navigate to the Preferences section. Click Yes next under 'Receive In-App Notifications.'
- Click Save. Notifications are now enabled.
Managing In-App Email Notifications
You can turn notifications on or off directly within a notification.
For example, if you wish to receive comment tagging notifications only through in-app and not email, you can turn off email notifications for comment tagging. Updates made this way will also update your preferences in your email notifications.
- Click the Notifications tab on your top bar.

Hover over the ellipses icon next to the notification type you wish to manage (comment tagging or task assignment). A drop down displays.
- Select Turn off Email or Turn on Email, depending on the current status.
Your email notification settings are automatically updated to reflect your change.
Enabling or Disabling In-App Notifications by Mass Action
You can enable or disable In-App notifications for multiple users.
You must have the User Administrator role to perform this action.
- Click the User Search tab at the top of the page. The Profile Search page displays.
- Place a check mark by user(s).

Click More Actions.
- Select either Enable In-App Notification or Disable In-App Notification. A confirmation window displays.
- Click Continue.
The selected users have their In-App notifications enabled or disabled, depending on your selection.
