Organizations create legal holds when litigation is anticipated and related records must be preserved. Legal holds are sometimes referred to as litigation holds.
The Legal Hold feature in LexisNexis® CounselLink® helps organizations manage the process of notifying relevant parties to preserve records associated with anticipated or ongoing legal action.s:
- Notification - All potential record custodians are notified to preserve their records.
- Custodian Acknowledgment and Reminders - Custodians acknowledge their receipt of the notification and disclose if they possess relevant data. Ongoing reminders may be sent to ensure continued preservation of records.
- Release - Once the legal matter concludes, custodians are notified that the legal hold has been released and preservation requirements are lifted.
