Release Date: February 8, 2025
We are pleased to announce the LexisNexis® CounselLink® 25.1.0 release.
This release features new enhancements for CL+ clients. Extraction AI allows contracts in the Signed stage to be configured so selected fields can be extracted and auto filled from the contract data. Counsel Selector by Lex Machina® can now be enabled and accessed on the Law Firm Search page. Additionally, the Microsoft® Word® add-in for CL+ clients now supports document versioning on contracts in Classic Negotiation mode. Finally, the Salesforce integration now allows document attachment addition when creating a new contract and voiding a signature during the Sign stage.
This release also features enhancements to the Allocation feature, including increasing allowances for attribution and making the GL code a required field. For clients that need to send out specific messaging or reminders to their users, CounselLink now features a configurable Compliance Banner that will appear on the homepage.

Updates
Financial Management
Allocation
Clients using the Allocation feature can configure the following updates upon the 25.1 release. Please contact customer support for more information on making these edits to the Allocation feature.
- The number of attributes for an Allocation Contact has been increased to 15. Prior to this release, the maximum allowed was eight.
- When setting an Allocation Group on a matter, clients that use GL codes can now make that field required when it is displayed.
- Clients can configure invoices to require an Allocation Group be assigned to the matter before approval. When configured, a reminder will display at the top of the Invoice Overview until allocation is assigned.
Invoices
-
Appeals on invoice review have been updated to streamline the process for charges that have been approved during the process. Clients that use Collaborative Review with their vendors or firms will notice that, during a second round of appeals, any charge that has been resolved in the first round will no longer show an Appeal button next to it.
-
The fee structure link on the Invoice Overview page displays the currently active fee offer. It also contains the Fee Offer ID for that fee offer.
Work Management
The History tab on the Document Overview page now displays when the document has been downloaded. It includes the event time, the user that downloaded it, and the document name.
Contract Lifecycle Management
CLM features a number of updates and improvements in the 25.1 release. These updates are for clients using CL+; contact your account manager for more information on enabling it for your organization.
-
CounselLink AI Extraction is now available for CL+ users on a Signed contract document. When configured, users can choose to extract Post Execution information from the contract into the fields configured by the Contract Admin to allow auto fill. These extractive fields can be configured on the Contract Fields Admin page.
The number of pages available for extraction depends on your annual package. If needed, your organization can add more pages at an additional charge.
-
Counsel Selector by Lex Machina® is now available on the Law Firm Search page. Counsel Selector delivers comprehensive insights into lawyers' expertise and track records. Use it to search for practice area information and jurisdictions to help make informed decisions when seeking outside counsel. Contact Customer Care to learn more about enabling this feature.
- CL+ users that use the Salesforce integration have additional features available.
- Contracts that are created in the Send for Signature workflow now feature a 'Cancel Signature' button in the event the contract needs to be removed from that stage.
- Contracts in the 'In Signature' stage of Salesforce can be voided and sent back to the 'Review' stage by clicking the Void Sign button.
- When creating a new contract in Salesforce, users have the ability to upload documents or attachments.
- CL+ users using the CounselLink Word add-in can now add different versions of a document when the contract is in Classic Negotiation. Users can view all previous versions added and upload new versions directly from the add-in.
Administration
-
Clients can configure the Compliance Banner at the top of the homepage. This will appear in a blue box at the top of the page for all users. For example, clients that must be ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliant can configure a reminder for users to be compliant when uploading documents to CounselLink.
The configuration is available on the Corporate Profile page with the option to edit the Banner and message text of the notification.
-
The Confidentiality Notice feature on the Corporate Profile page has been updated. Clients can now configure an acknowledgement text which, when configured, will create a text box on areas specified with the notice. Additionally, the notice can now be applied to documents added to journal entries.
-
Clients now have the option to disable previews for PDF documents. A Corporate Administrator can edit this setting on the Corporate Profile page. When set to 'no,' the document will automatically download once clicked. This setting helps for clients that wish to closely track users that have accessed documents.
